Enter positive whole numbers.
LCM(24, 48, 60, 72) = 2 . 2 . 3 . 2 . 1 . 2 . 5 . 3 = 720
The prime factors common to all four numbers are 2, 2 and 3.
The only prime factor common to a pair or trio of numbers is 2.
The leftovers are 1, 2, 5 and 3.
The LCM of the entered numbers is equal to the product of the prime factors and the leftovers we found above.
Common multiples of 24, 48, 60 and 72 are 720, 1440, 2160 ...
So as to compute the LCM of four numbers, we can use the cake (ladder) method.
In this method, after we write the given numbers to the right, we seek for the prime numbers that divide all four numbers, exactly. Once we find such a prime number, we write it to the LHS, divide the numbers on the right by this prime number and write the quotients to a new layer. We continue this algorithm until no prime number that divides all four numbers is left.
Next, we search for the prime numbers that divide at least two of the numbers on the right. If we find such a prime number, we divide the numbers that are divisible by the prime number and write the quotients to a new layer. We bring the remaining number/numbers down without making the division.
We continue searching for such prime numbers until all pairs are relatively prime. Then we multiply the prime numbers on the LHS of the cake and the leftovers in order to find the LCM.
