## INFORMATION

So as to simplify a fraction we divide the numerator and denominator by their common factors greater than 1. In the simplest form of a fraction, the only common factor of the numerator and denominator is 1.

There are two methods to simplify a fraction.

a) In the first method, we divide both the numerator and denominator by all common factors we see, until those numbers become coprime.

b) In the second method, we divide the numerator and denominator by their GCF (greatest common factor).
