INFORMATION

Negative numbers can be represented in binary using one of the following representations.

• signed magnitude representation
• signed 1's complement representation
• signed 2's complement representation

This calculator uses the magnitude representation. In this representation, a sign bit is prepended to the binary form of the number. The sign bit is 0 if the number is positive; and 1 if the number is negative.
